The people of Portugal embody southern Europe in every sense. Kind, warm-hearted, jovial, and down to earth; it was truly a pleasure experiencing such a beautiful country in the company of such charisma.

Food and Wine






  1. Portugal is renowned for vinho do Porto wine. What makes this wine unique is the addition of distilled grape spirits. This process results in a richer, sweeter wine.   










  1. Ginjinha, also renowned in Portugal, is a liqueur created from the combination of Ginja cherries alcohol and sugar. Oftentimes, it is served in an edible mini chocolate cup. YUM!







  1.  The preparation of seafood in Portugal is an artform. My favorite dish by far was Bacalhau. Salted cod marinated to perfection, served with potatoes and veggies; this dish is tantalizing to the taste buds and is definitely the most authentic way to ‘taste’ Portugal. 






Castles


  1. Sintra Portugal. The castles here are a resplendent sight to behold. Let me just let the pictures do the talking.

Ode To Strasbourg

(not an actual Ode ) Nestled in a unique location with generous French and German influences, this lovely city is a darling to visit. Cobblestone streets and Bavarian style architecture beckons one to wander and get lost. It breathes the essence of walking right into a painting of an old charming German town. My fascination is further piqued as I observe local passersby. In such beautiful surroundings, I am simply amazed at how nonchalantly they stroll. Are they not aware of such beauty? Perhaps being inundated with such picturesque scenes becomes mundane with time. Nonetheless, this visitor is captured and absolutely mesmerized. Photos 1 & 2.
