Japan Gunma Prefecture

If you are thinking about visiting Japan, this post is for you :)

Here are some things I loved about Japan:

1. Everything is so stinkin adorable.

2. Cherry blossoms everywhere.

3. The food was absolutely amazing.

4. Breathtaking lush green vibrant natural surroundings.

Major takeaways

1. I really appreciated Japanese culture. It was quite refreshing actually. A common occurrence that took me a while to get used to was the constant bowing. The cashier at Mcdonald's even bowed to me! How polite! I was definitely taken aback though. What an amusing but welcome change! I have always respected the Japanese culture, but experiencing this aspect first-hand has given me more reason to admire this beautiful culture.

2. Ok so the whole driving on the other side of the road thing took me a bit to get used to. I didn't drive (thankfully),  but my friend did, and we survived! (Thank You!)

3. Gunma Prefecture (located in the Kanto region) is quite a small town. It also has a small town feel. I tend to end up in "small town " areas when I travel. This results in me becoming a walking representation of black women everywhere (haha its all for educational purposes ). Coupled with the naturally shy nature of many Japanese people in this area, let's just say I had a couple of hilarious run-ins with unexpecting Japanese people. *ask me about that one in person.

3. Gunma is also quite lush as it's practically landlocked in somewhat of a valley. The greenery, especially in springtime is beautiful. I was fortunate enough to arrive at peak cherry blossom season. IT WAS BREATHTAKING. Pictures do it no justice. My favorite memory was walking in a field inundated with cherry blossoms and realizing that the native Japanese around me were just as blown away.

4. RAMEN and UDON. End of story
